925 Sterling Silver' SPECIAL MUM' Pendant. Set with a small round white cubic zirconia stone to the heart.

White Round Cut Cubic Zirconia Stone. Pendant Size: approx 13mm x 14mm. This jewellery piece is 925 Sterling Silver and has the added extra of being encased in Rhodium. Rhodium is from the platinum family of precious metals and is one of the rarest elements on earth.

Every platinum and white gold item is plated in Rhodium to give it that white bright shine - white gold is slightly gold with out rhodium and platinum is very grey with out it. On sterling silver, rhodium actually enhances the silver by giving it the lustre and shine of white gold or platinum and stops those items scratching easily and prevents tarnishing. Sterling Silver items that have been rhodium encased are often know as platinum enhanced sterling silver and they will sparkle brightly like platinum. Rhodium plated items will be 6-10 times more tarnish resistant than an untreated 925 sterling silver item.

It is an expensive process which is very hard to achieve with sterling silver. Many companies do not plate the silver as they see it as expensive. The 925 sterling silver chains that come with the pendants are not rhodium plated as the plate would make them too expensive. Necklace comes beautifully presented in an organza pouch.
